This is a campaign to support the villagers in objecting to the proposed housing development of up to 58 houses and 4 flats on a green field site in the middle of Dilton Marsh.

Latest News:

  •  The Parish Council will be holding a special meeting on, Thursday 30th March at 7.30 pm in the village Memorial Hall to consider the Land rear of 117 High Street application.

All residents are most welcome to attend.

  • The deadline for objections to this planning proposal is April 13th.
  •  Please see the 'How to object to a planning application' page of this website for advice on how to object and do's and don't's in writing your objection.

The new revised plan for the development

This proposed housing development is within 100 metres of both the school entrance and church in the centre of Dilton Marsh.

The very nature of this proposal is inappropriate and out of character with the surrounding area. Neighbouring houses are mostly stone and brick-built 200-year-old weavers' cottages reflecting the history and character of this rural village.

The local infrastructure - roads, schools and health centre - is already overstretched and the increased traffic would significantly affect highway safety in the village for both local adults and primary school pupils.

Main points of the Campaign so far...

  • Meeting of 100+ villagers in the Memorial Hall.
  • Setting up the email group list.
  • Setting up this website.
  • Appointment of Andrew Burgess as a professional planning consultant to represent us.
  • Creation of the Just Giving account to raise funds and a separate dedicated bank account to hold the funds. The target is £2000 - which we have now reached after the fundraising gig and the leafleting campaign (see below).
  • Organisation and planning of the fundraising gig by Dr Zebo's Wheezy Club.
  • A leafleting campaign delivering an information sheet to most houses in the village.

The proposed site is covered by the word 'Marsh' in the map above. It is in the centre of the rural village of Dilton Marsh on a green field site and covers 3 hectares (or 4.2 football pitches)...
